Day 21 - September 30th 2013 (By Elin Karabuda)

Day 21 - September 30th 2013 (By Elin Karabuda)

KNOCK KNOCK :-) Who’s there? Elin. Ok

The second week of modern/contemporary/jazz/musical/& some-more-stuff has now begun.
The day (like the other days last week) didn’t start with hardcore Lin workout.
My match against the hulk is getting affected by this, which is not ok.
I’m just kidding. Not really.

Other than that it has been good :-)
Instead, the day started with 2 hours of technique training with Jenny.
Yes, getting skilled you know.
Since I’m not very experienced in modern/contemporary/jazz/musical/&some-more-stuff, these 2 hours each day has been very helpful!
We focused a lot on floortechnique.
Today I actually felt a lot better doing the floormoves than what I did last week.
So lets just hope the progress continues so I can be a part time ballerina to pay the ice cream bills
(If nutrition-Sofia is reading this, Icecream is just a metaphor for brussels sprouts. Ok. Good  :-)
We also did some partnering ish.
Our moves had to be lead by a certain bodypart, which made the whole body follow.
We pushed, annoyed and pulled on eachother to get the same effect.
So basically it was improv. Yea, guess you can call it that.
Don’t think I will use it in the club though.
We’ll see. But it was cool. :-)

On the theory class with Jenny we continued to learn about the history of modern dance.
We are soon to be professors too you know ;-)
It was interesting to hear about how ballet developed into different styles of modern dance, and about the revolutionary people involved.

The choreo Jenny taught was beautiful but I personally didn’t like how she choreographs to the music. Cause the thing is, she doesn’t really choreographs to the music. She just puts the music as an extra element in the background.
I like when you can see the music just by watching the dance.
And when you are dancing, the moves don’t come from your muscles, it comes as a reaction of the music.
So this made it harder for me to feel the dance and put in feeling and expressions.
It also made me focus more on making sure we all did it the same speed instead on focusing on dance. So I guess this was healthy for me and I should continue working on it!

As usual we ended our day with stretching.
Our stretch mum of the week is Anton. He totally stole Marilenas stretch routine. But don’t get sad Marilena, it only means he thinks you’re cool ;-)
I guess. Or he’s just a thief.  No hard feelings Anton? Ok. Good.
