DAY 108 - February 26th 2014 (By Kallum Khaos)

DAY 108 - February 26th 2014 (By Kallum Khaos)

Whaddup!!

It's been a while but we are back and working harder than ever.

We started the day with a meeting, discussing our upcoming show on the 27th June and it's starting to take shape, we've all got a lot of ideas and we're putting them together and writing a story that will be the main focus of the show.
It's going to be AWESOME   =D

After we had Huyen who is really kicking our ass, our bodies are aching but still we are being made to push harder than ever.

We're working on a piece of choreography that is really varied in it's emotion and dynamics and it's really full out.
We must have danced it 2078539923 times in one day and my body is about ready to break.

Today was my class day too and it was an unbelievable experience, even better than the last time!

It was a really unusual concept but everyone worked so hard and really opened up exactly how I hoped, I got to see students in a whole new light.
It's not everyday I teach a class based around being a 'Shaman' in between worlds and it's definitely not an experience I am going to forget.

Thanks for reading and catch you soon =]

DAY 107 - February 25th 2014 (By Cecilia Tram)

DAY 107 - February 25th 2014 (By Cecilia Tram)

Hey there!

Tired, tired and sore.

Hahaha and it is just the second day and I feel like I have been running a marathon.
It is amazing to have Hyun back, and she is here to take us to a new level of high.
It feels really good to work out like crazy, and you surprises yourself.
You think it is five minutes left of the lesson and you really go full out, then she say one last time, and go full out again, and so on, and then you realize that it is an hour overtime  :O wow!
That shows that you can do more than you think, and that is one of the goals she have with us this week, to push us to level 20 instead of 10.

This day we have been focused on creating choreo fast.

She taught us some tools to create fast.
We started with eight positions and from there filled in transitions, and from there if we have been doing the choreo standing, we then had  to do it on the floor.
I thought it was hard because I'm terrible on creating my own stuff, but at the same time it was really good practice for me, but at the end I just lost my own choreo and I was only freestyling, but at the same time it is better to do something than just be standing there and look like a weirdo.

We did some pingpong exercises too.

We were 4 and 4 and together in each group, and we were going to create a choreo with one move leading to another and the result would be flowing.
Both groups were dope!!!
Omg!
So proud of my clasmates and they are so inspireing.

So that is for today sweeties!!!

Love to you all

DAY 106 - February 24th 2014  (by Anton Swerkström)

Tjena blog!

We are back again after a weeks vacation!
It was actually a needed rest (for me atleast) after a couple pretty intense week.

This program is a lot to take in and sometimes its good to have some time to reflect.
But it was super exciting being back today meeting everyone again!

Right back into it with with our updated WarmUp program.
We are getting stronger and stronger and our program now is pretty full out, but I am not complaining
:-)

Then we did some freestyle training and cyphering.
Been some focus on that lately which for me has been awesome since I really strive to become a decent freestyle dancer.
A couple of us are also entering a battle by the end of next month so its time to step our game up!

Already really excited for that event and me and my training buddy Marilena have already had a couple training sessions with more to follow for sure!

Then we had our very first teacher from the program revisit us for the second time, Huyen from Norway!
It is so cool having her back, she is an amazing teacher and really an intelligent dancer with lots of knowledge. It is also fun to have back our teacher from the first week of the education and now 5 months later see if it will be a different experience.

Whether or not we will feel our growth Huyen will still push us pretty hard this week, we already got a taste of that today.
But had some awesome physical classes today with both some more old school moves as well as a more New School Choreography.

Once again I am so excited to be back and really hungry to learn this week!
Huyen made a parable about SpongeBob SquarePants today and asked us to be sponges eager to soak up all she throws at us.
I am so ready to be a sponge!

DAY 105 February 14th 2014 (By Elina Ayako)

Hey Hey nice to see you blog people, it's been quite a while!

It's my turn again to let you know about what's going on in The Hip Drop Education & let me tell you, there's a lot exciting things happening.

Today was the last day before the vacation week & we came a big step closer to our graduation show that we are doing June 27th.

Currently, we are working on the script of the show.
Since we are mainly using the 1st & 2nd movie, it's is challenging to combine the two together to one show, so we have to change up the story a tiny bit in order for it to make sense.

Working together with a group of 8 people who know each other so well is definitely a good exercise for everyone of us & I can't wait to tell you more about the whole process.

For the rest of the day, we were supposed to have an hour Floor Barre, a Freestyle Session & one Choreography Class.

But somehow we ended up on the couch with our lovely dance mom Lin, talking about the dance industry & her everyday life as an organizer.

It felt so good to just sit together with everyone & exchange our thoughts & opinions. Moments like these make us bond even more as a group.

Once more, I realized how lucky I am to be here with all these people. I know I am at the right place at the right time.

DAY 104 - February 13th 2014 (By Mantas Rimeikis)

Hello!

One more day left before the break & I feel like I need it in order to digest all the information we got from past weeks.

Today we got to freestyle for one hour and I can tell that everyone is getting more comfortable and better in it .

After that K taught us some top-rocks INTENSIVELY   :-)
Then we practiced floor-work techniques which we can incorporate in our freestyle.

We spend more time on Matrix now and I can already tell that the show will be sick, we have great ideas and images of the show, so now we just write everything down and build the manuscript.

That's it from me for today !

DAY 103 - February 12th February 2014 By Denice Solberg

Hey dear blog readers!
It’s time for my update on the blog again.
Today has been really intense, but I am ending it with a huuuge smile on my face!
We started the day with some floorbarre and WarmUp, moving directly into a freestyle class.
We always start them with having some personal time to work on whatever we want, and then we end it with a circle.
Sometimes I find it really hard to practise, so we try to help each other out when we are stuck.
The circle felt funny to me today, the others are developing soo fast with their freestyle that I’m more scared going in there now than in the beginning.
I’m kinda intimidated by everyone.
Lin was the DJ so we had no clue what kind of music she would play for us, which makes it more of a challenge.
Good challenge!

After the break Marilena killed us all with her Power Yoga.
I’m not kidding..
I was shaking from pain the whole time...but I love it so much so I would like to do it more often. Love/hate relationship I guess.
Lin had a speed class with us afterwards and she taught us a reallyyy nice choreo to ”Falling” by Keysha Cole. It was such a nice class that I enjoyed a lot.

Later tonight it was my turn to teach my second international class.
We have been going through sooo many pointers on how to be a good teacher lately that I really felt the pressure.
But tonights class was so amazing!
It really made me feel like a have a little teaching-passion in me.
I always loved teaching, but I haven’t imagined myself being a teacher as a profession in the future.
But tonight I enjoyed teaching so much that I could see myself taking it more seriously some day.
I got so much nice feedback and compliments from the students on exactly what I wanted to improve on.
So I wanna celebrate my accomplishments and keep on improving even more.
Everybody danced so well and understood the whole choreo, musicality and dynamics.
It was a very chill and groovy class to a song from an artist called Jeff Bernat.
You should check his music out if you haven’t heard of him before.

Now I will take my super dead body and super big smile to bed, talk to you later!

Day 102 - February 11th 2014 (By Marilena Maouni)

Day 102 - February 11th 2014 (By Marilena Maouni)

"I've been feeling ridiculously appreciative of the fact that, though it's not easy, I get to do my passion for a living.
Which pretty much leads to one thing: I'm happy.
But after I got comfortable with this feeling of happy, I started to ask myself, what's next?
God gave me a tool, the gift of dance, and though it may not be the sharpest tool there is out there, it still has the potential to build something truly magnificent and full of purpose.
So then I thought of how I could use the gift that was given to do something….good." -Anthony Lee.
How freakishly talented as a choreographer and as a dancer Anthony is....well, pretty much everyone knows...what the world needs to know is that he has a beautiful mind and soul and I couldn't be more happy and grateful that I got to meet him.
I know it's a new week,he's not here anymore but last week was so special to me and I can't just sleep on it.
Last week was magical
So about this week! We are focusing on our final show and we started brainstorming and having our first meetings.
Today is extra special day because is K's birthday so after our one-hour warm up we all went to the cutest cafeteria and had our Matrix meeting, Anthony Lee evaluation, and off course celebrated with some coffee and cake :))))))))) Those moments make me realize we're more than students friends and classmates.
I LOVE YOU ALL
