DAY 131 - March 31st 2014 (By Denice M.Solberg)

DAY 131 - March 31st 2014 (By Denice M.Solberg)

Hello dear readers!
This week is full of new and different things compared to what The Hip Drop is all about!
We are having TAP and BALLET.
We had our first ballet class with the amazing Emily from Copenhagen on Friday, so today we kinda knew what we could expect.
She is the perfect ballet teacher for a group like us, she is pushing us, being funny, but she really knows how to gain our respect at the same time!
I have been looking forward to this week the whole year.
I came here for hiphop, but my body craves technical styles aswell, like ballet, jazz and contemporary. So right now my dancesoul is satisfied.
We met Joel our tap teacher today.  We had an intensive of 3 hours tapping. We learned different techniques and some combinations. I found it hard to concentrate after the first two hours, but I learned a lot and it was nice to focus on the feet! I wish I had tapping shoes though, cause right now I am using nike shoes and you can't hear anything. I have only taken one tapping class earlier, so today was a pretty fresh beginning still. Hopefully I will do better and better the next days.

Talk to you sooon!!!

DAY 130 - March 28th 2014 (By Anton Swerkström)

DAY 130 - March 28th 2014 (By Anton Swerkström)

Weeks are going by fast here in the education.
We are now in the process of preparing for the LA trip that is closing in on us very quickly, and also preparing for the big end production we are having by the end of the education.
It is a lot of work and some stress as well but it will all be worth it in the end.
This is why we do this, if it was easy it would be boring :-)

Today we also had our first ballet class!
And I admit that it was pretty cool :-)
I have taken some ballet before but not a lot, and for the others in the group the level is very different.
But I think our teacher Emelie did a really good job adjusting to this.
We were all pretty lost, some more than others, and we did not look like ballet dancers most of the time.
Actually we barely looked like dancers sometimes...
But it was still a really fun class and we have more to come as well.
By the end of it we will probably all be prima ballerinas  :-)

We got off school a little earlier today since me, Kallum and Marilena were going to Helsingborg (a city 45 min from Malmö) to enter a freestyle battle.
Having the awesome class that we do everyone else came along to support us too.
It turned out to be such an amazing experience. It was so cool to lay all our freestyle practice on the table and battle it out with people from all over Skåne.
The vibe and the whole event was just so nice and it was a perfect place to enter the battle scene.
So before I end this blog entry I just want to encourage all dancers out there who are not that into freestyling to really give it a try.
Once you are comfortable its such an amazing feeling and can lead to really cool experiences.
Thats all for me this time around :-)

DAY 129 - March 27th 2014 (By Elina Ayako)

Eyoooo Blog people :-)
It is going down at the education, we're still in the preparation of Matrix, anticipatiently waiting for LA to come & educating ourselves in teaching advanced classes!
Today it was Denice's turn & since she's my roomie I saw the whole process of her choreographing this piece (& it wasn't that easy for her at first but oh dear, the end product uhhh..)
The class with her was a lot of fun, her teaching was good before, but she definitely got even better!
The piece she taught is a super groovy one with quite a layed back, sexy attitude.
If you haven't Seen the class video on Lin's Instagram yet, do it now ;-)

For the rest of the afternoon we were free to work on our Matrix Production.
I won't give away too much of the show quite yet but let me give you some teasers: Long Black Leather jackets - Dark, green, smoky Stage - the dopest lights to guarantee the best theatre experience - and the list goes on.
Next week the Tickets will be out for sale.
So I guess.. See you in a week!!

DAY 128 - March 26th 2014 (By Mantas Rimeikis)

Hello Blog!

Our big focus in the program is Matrix right now & everyone are in their creative modes.
We worked out at the beginning of the day, and then we had a Breaking class with K where he taught us some more floor moves!

We are slowly building the choreographies for the show & there is sooo much work we have to do.
I feel like only now I am starting to actually use the tools I’ve got throughout this year.

Stay awesome !

DAY 127 - March 25th 2014 (By Cecilia Tram)

Hey!

My time to write for you guys ;-)

We all are focused on the Matrix Show right now.
Songs being found and collabos are being planned.
Right now my body are almost craving for some technical Ballet training.
You always want to do the stuff you are not doing, and of course it would have been the other way around if I was training ballet.

Today we had freestyle sessions and even if we were suppose to do freestyle, I'm working on my pieces to the Matrix.

I am having a hard time to Choreograph with people are around me, so my class mates must find me really weird when I'm taking the stars up and down and listen to the music.
Because when I have the others next to me I know that I'm kind of trying to make everything look so cool and then the things I create wont be honest.
Don't judge me ;-)
....so walking around by myself is really good. Creating some moves. Something I love doing.

Love to you all <3

DAY 126 - March 24th (By Marilena Maouni)

Heeeey dear reader 😊

I guess you already know we have been focusing on teaching the last couple of weeks, and we had an assignment to teach three different levels.
Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.

Today it was Anton’s turn to teach an advanced class and he did an excellent job ,but him already being a teacher at the Hip Drop it was kinda expected !

Later on we had a freestyle session, and it was a great practice for me, Kallum and Anton cause we are battling for the first time in four days.
I always wanted to battle, and I was always so scared thinking
"‘I’m not ready for this!" but thanks to Anton I got the push that I needed and decided that is NOW OR NEVER… tam tam tam *dramatic music*

Hopefully I will survive and let you guys know how it went.

And oh!
Today is my birthday and I got so much love and candy!
Seriously I wasn’t expecting this at all!
Thanks to all the Yep´ers , students and friends who made my day so beautiful and special.

Much love xoxo

DAY 125 - March 21st 2014 (By Elin Karabuda)

DAY 125 - March 21st 2014  (By Elin Karabuda)

Today was a rather cool day.
Suits and glasses from left to right.
A flip here.
A kick there.
Why?
I’ll tell you why.
Because we shot the trailer for our matrix show.
That’s why.

We met up at the studio around 11 where the magic began.
First we got to try the clothes that were brought for us.
The first thing I saw was a bunch of 3D glasses.
We’re screwed, I said to myself.
Then it turned out that they had normal shades as well.
So we are back in the game folks.
After we got dolled up, the cameraman came and started preparing the settings.
I can’t reveal too much, but it did look good guys.
Real good.
We did small routines, power moves and other coolness.
The cameraman for sure knew what he was doing.
Everything was so planned out and precise, that the dedication he put into it impressed me.
He is also a dancer, you know.
That of course made the process hella lot easier, since he was able to interfere movement wise as well.

Then it was time to hit the other locations.
We filmed at the Scandic Hotel and at Triangelns metro station.
I like the attention I got in a suit and shades. I was classy, yet protected from the sun. The cameraman knew exactly what to do, so we just fallowed his lead.
It was super fun to run around the station, looking serious.
It was a day to remember.
