DAY 84 - January 16th 2014 (By Kallum)

DAY 84 - January 16th 2014  (By Kallum)

Today I reflected on yesterday.

Everyday I get to watch my class mates in admiration, they're so talented, so unique, with so many great qualities when they dance.
I see them as my superiors, so much so that I forget that they might not see in themselves what I see.

Freestyling brought out a lot of doubt in everyone.
Even though I watched each and every one of them be great.
It surprised me so much to see afterwards that some of them weren't happy with how they did...it confused me a little at first, because when I watch them I wish I could be as talented.
But it never occurs to me to say it to them, I see myself as inferior to them, to the extent that a compliment from me would be meaningless to them. But that's not the case and I need to remember that. I need to let them know how amazing they are, how special they are and how privileged I am to dance with them. It will make us a stronger, more confident community.

Maybe that's something we all need to be reminded of sometimes. Let someone know they ripped the cypher, taught a great class or just tried really hard that day. It can mean more than we sometimes might think.

That said today was a great day. Professor Lock/Brice is an unbelievable teacher.
We went over various locking grooves and applied them to other locking techniques we've learned throughout the week and danced them in front of one another.
In the afternoon we freestyled at different speeds/using different tempo's within the song to better enable us to be varied when we freestyle. Everyone was so much more confident and relaxed today. There is freestyling potential in all of us and it's great to be a part of.
