DAY 124 - March 20th 2104 (By Kallum Khaos)

DAY 124 - March 20th 2104 (By Kallum Khaos)

Woah these blog days come around so fast! ‘Sup ya’ll?

My day started with the walk to school listening to Lupe Fiasco, going over the counts and choreo that I was going to teach in my mock advanced class after our morning work out.
Teaching is such an art; we’ve already learnt so much from the beginners and intermediate versions of the same exercises that my head was full of things to think about. My class went well, everyone’s feedback was really positive; like, CRAZY positive so that was one hell of a boost for me.
After class Lin approached me to ask if I would like to teach her advanced class that evening…WHAT?! It’s like so freaking insane to me that I admit a few tears were shed during the stretch at the end of the day.

After lunch it was Elina’s turn to teach and her class blew me away. For such a small, sweet girl to have a huge command over a class like that was awesome. Her choreography was so good too. If you’ve not seen the videos of our class choreo’s then head over to Lin Samuelsen’s Instagram and check them out. After a good stretch we had a production meeting. It’s getting pretty intense and we’re delving deep into logistics and budgets and all the practical, business aspects of the production.

Next came my opportunity to teach the Hip Drop Advanced evening class. It was one hell of an experience, I will die happy if that’s the highest point I reach in dance, it was that good. After class all the students were so nice and positive and ahhh it was just surreal. I can’t wait to edit together the footage for the world to see. It started a normal Thursday morning; it ended with me teaching at the Hip Drop and having Lin Samuelsen dance my choreography! Life is a funny ‘ol thing huh?

Later guys!

DAY 123 - March 19th 2014 (By Denice M.Solberg)

Hello there!
So we just started a new assignment where we are learning how to teach an advanced Hip Hop class.
We are learning by doing and then getting an evaluation afterwards.
This is the most free and most difficult task of the three, just because the level of teaching and choreographing in this class is so high. I really feel the pressure of having to do good, which makes me work harder, but it also makes me quite nervous for my turn. Luckily I am next week, so I still have some time to prepare. Today Marilena and Mantas were teaching their Advanced Class. They raised the barre by being really good teachers and their choreo's were really cool and felt nice to dance. I got challenged a lot today. It feels sooo amazing to learn from the others! Before the education started when we were just talking on Facebook all together, we planned that we would teach each other choreos every week. And finally after 7 months we are actually doing it.. But we had to get an assignment for us to get crackin. There are so many things I can learn from each and every person in this group, so I am suuuper thankful for this assignment ! And also learning how to be a good teacher is very important and valuable!
If you want to see a snippet of Marilenas and Mantas' classes today go to Lins instagram @linthehipdrop , and there you will find it!
Wzup wzup wzup wzup!

DAY 122 – March 18th 2014 (By Anton Swerkström)

DAY 122 – March 18th 2014 (By Anton Swerkström)

God dag Blog!

What a pleasure to once again be writing for you fine folks out there interested in what we are doing.
For me its been a really good start to this week!
Last week I was suffering a little from a knee injury, nothing serious but I think I simply overworked it (this education is intense) but after resting this weekend and lots of stretching I feel a lot better and ready to overwork it again! Hehe

After our warmup which today mostly consisted of floor barre this week, lead by yours truly we continued to work on our upcoming end production.
We are spending a lot of time now and up until we leave for LA preparing for the show in order to have as much as we can ready for when we come back and only have 3 weeks to make everything come together.
Things are moving along smoothly so far though.
It´s so exciting being in this process and step by step seeing how we progress to what we hope to be a sick end result.

In the afternoon we had class with K.
I always enjoy his class a lot and I must say it is insane how much knowledge and skill he has.
He has been in the game for a while but he is still amazing and his physical ability is so inspiring.
We started out doing some top rock, but the last 30 minutes we spent working individually on skills and blow up moves.
This is one of my favorite things to practice, and when you have someone who can really show you how to do these crazy moves its so much fun.
A little annoying I couldnt quite go full out with my knee though, I am gonna need a few more days... gah!
When it comes to injuries I have no patience!
We also got a long good stretch session today which my body and especially my knee was very grateful.

Until next time!

DAY 121 - March 17th - 2014 (By Elina Ayako)

Nooo, we are back to the cold weather.. Why Sweden?
I thought we talked about this whole winter thing, we agreed on moving on.
Well I guess this means the 1Yeppers just need to work out harder in the studio to get our bodies warm!

It’s Marilena’s turn to teach the last beginners class.
This girl knows how to groove!
Even though it was a „beginners“ class, I felt like I could learn so much from it.
Going through basic steps & repeating them really gets me back to the foundation. I
t’s always good to polish your foundation steps because there’s always more work to do even on the easiest steps!

So right now, we are in the middle of the preparation for Matrix.
Most days up until we go to LA will be focused around the show.
There’s a lot of things on our to-do-list that need to be crossed off before LA:
Choreographing the show, rehearsing the pieces, promotion, organizing costumes & props for the stage, printing & selling the tickets, stage & light design etc.
The list is endless.
To make sure that our final show is going to be as incredible as possible, we are working hard every day in our meetings to get going in the process.
Today, the whole afternoon was dedicated to the planing of the show.
Me & Mantas are responsible for the stage design so we went through the script to brainstorm on how the set up should look like.
We then took up pen & paper to draw down our ideas.
I love things like these, being involved in a huge production with a group of people who are so close to you.
Once more, mark your calendars guys:
June 27th!!

DAY 120 - March 14th 2014 (By Mantas Rimeikis)

Sup, blog.

It’s Friday!
Today we got to do Floor-barre as our Warm Up/Work Out which was awesome since we got to work our muscles in different ways by the end of the week.
My body is happy.

We had a class with Lin afterwards and it was nice to have a regular class with her. Since we have focused on improving our pick up she only taught us ‘’speed teaching’’ classes over the past few months.

Then we had our first LA meeting! I am sooo freakin excited about this , it is going to be an amazing experience, I can’t wait to meet and train with all the awesome dancers over there aahhh. I am preparing my body for intensive dance training hahah !

cya!

DAY 119 -  March 13th 2014 (By Cecilia Tram)

So hey there!

It was me again and this time hmm...having a bad day or I'm in a period with downs and that is how it is!
I have set a new record, not a good one thow.
Haha cried 2 times in a week. Yay! Peace.

So today we had class with K, and Elina had her beginners class, and she was amazing.
I wish I went to a class like that the first time I took a "HipHop"class.
Her class was perfect and I will take some or steal some stuff from her mohahaha.
No but she talk and explain everything really well, and she makes you feel good. She is a talker, a really good one.

So what should I write. It had been so much easier if you guys could ask questions to me hahaha.

I have started thinking about how I want to do the Matrix choreography, but I'm still looking for good music, and I'm so happy that I'm going to be able to put in so many different styles.
I'm doing a kind of contemporary piece slash bob fosse look alike, two and two latino inspired and one HipHop piece.
It is so much fun! I hope my downperiod is over soon because it is L.A. soon! It is weird how times fly and I need to remember to apply for ESTA.
Oh I maybe should apply for it now. Now that I remember it :-)

Love to you all

DAY 118 - March 12th (By Marilena Maouni)

DAY 118 - March 12th 2014  (By Marilena Maouni)

Hello world
This week our assignment is each one of us has to teach a very first beginners class to the rest of the 1Yep´ers.
But since no one is a beginner we have to act like we are (which sometimes is super fun!)
We are not only focusing on teaching a simple choreography but to teach foundations, teach a little bit of the history, and in general to be educational! Today was Mr. Kallum's turn and he did an excellent job!
I highly recommend you take his class if you get the chance!
Later on we learned more about the Hip Hop history with K, and finished the day with listening to different songs for the Matrix show.
I got really inspired and I can't wait to start choreographing for the show!
That's all folks, Lots of love.
