Day 42 - November 5th 2013 (By Anton Swerkström)

Day 42 - November 5th 2013 (By Anton Swerkström)

Tjenixen (swedish word of the day) Blog!

Started the day with music theory with K.
Not really much to say except its nice we are keeping this up, for every time we do it we get better and better.
Then we went running again, thanks to Marilena... Nah Im just kidding :-)
...was actually nice going running again, especially in this weather.
Although I have to be completely honest and say I prefer the workout/warmup program since it works on your entire body, dance technique as well as flexibility.
But running once in a while is perfectly fine by me.
And after lunch it was back to Tony.
Today we were gonna focus on street dances and we learned some different styles.
Among them were the superhyped, superintensive Baltimore style.
I thought Melbourne Shuffle to a Hardstyle beat was fast but this took it to a whole other level.
When Tony first showed it to the music I could barely believe it since it seemed impossible to move that fast.
Then he said “The purpose of this is to make it impossible, and make it possible at the same time”.
We were all like “Say whaaat?”.
But what he meant was to make it seem impossible but then use the movements to our advantage and make them possible to do.
Dont know if that makes any sense... but at least when he explained it it did.
And by the end of the class we all kinda got it.

Last class we did more of a regular choreo class but with influences from another street dance.
Every class we have had so far I have been so lost in the beginning and just feeling really awkward doing his moves because he looks so good doing them and I look... well I dont look cool... at all...
But by the end of each class I have still felt like I kinda got it.
The power of a good teacher I suppose.
And not only that but all the knowledge he possesses is amazing.
I am just trying my hardest to remember all the things he says because its all freakin golden.
Wont get much sleep tonight, but hopefully I´ll pull through tomorrow.
I mean Tony had like 2 hours of sleep the first day he had us, and you could not tell, so I cant let my teacher down and whine about getting 5 hours  :-/
Until next time!

DAY 41 - November 4th 2013 (By Elina Ayako)

Dear Blog reader

I am so happy.
You want to know why?
Today, Tony Tzar arrived.
Yes you've heard right,
Tony FREAKING Tzar. And just as we've expected, the first day with him was simply amazing!

The first choreography was very groovy and sensual.
When Tony teaches a piece, he doesn't only show us the choreography but he also tries to explain how you can project the mood of the song to your dancing.
For example: He pointed out how relaxed Justin Bieber is sing-talking on the track, as if he's flirting with the microphone.
To demonstrate the seductive feel of it, he was dancing a section right in front of Marilena - "OH MY GOSH" was the only thing that came out of her mouth haha!
So we tried to be conversational through our dancing - and it worked!
To match the atmosphere, he taught both classes with no light expect for two little (Glühbirnen) that were flickering in the corners of the room.

Sounds pretty awesome, huh?

For the second class we continued in the dark. This piece had some Contemporary influence & to me it felt like a real Tony Tzar choreography (if that makes sense?! haha).
His style is so unique & artistic.
I was just filled with happiness - even though sometimes I failed miserably dancing his choreography.

Having my favorite male choreographer here at the Education Program is so unreal.
I really appreciate having this opportunity & I'm just so thankful to live the life I'm living.

Have a good week, God bless.

Day 40 - October 25th 2013  (By Mantas Rimeikis)

Hello Blog.

Today is the last day with Andye J therefore we get to do our solos!
Everyone was preparing like crazy for the past few days.

As you know Andye asked us to describe ourselves as a dancer with one word on the first day, and gave us an assignment to do....a solo that represents that word.

Every single one of us did an amazing job and I definitely saw improvement in everyone since we saw each other performing 2 months ago.

Kallum though just blew everyone’s mind.
Especially after he explained what his choreography was about.
What an honest guy he made the girls cry , I think :-)  (omg I should be a song writer)
BTW: he uploaded his solo on youtube..... Check it out here:

                                                     Solo by Kallum Khaos

I wish I could just describe everyone, but you have to see it by yourself to understand.

Oh, and at the end of the day Andye J gave us personal letters! I  know right?!
She is definitely an amazing teacher/choreographer & I can’t wait to take her classes in LA.

Bye Blog

Day 39 - October 24th 2013 (By Marilena & Denice)

Day 39 - October 24th 2013 (By Marilena & Denice)

This is some girls on heels speaking! Marilena and Denice!
So hello world.
Finally we had our heels class with Miss Andye J.
The experience was totally different for the two of us and we don´t know why the heck we are writing this together! So get ready to be confused.
Marilena: omg! OMG! HEELS CLASS !!!!!! I should wear my heels for the warm up too.
Denice : oh shoot, I don’t even have heels…. Better get some, but heels + me = eeehhhh..

Marilena: First class we learn the choreo…why doesn´t she let us wear the heels already?
Denice: weellll, Marilena because she feels sorry for me.. I’m going to look prettyy stu..pid.  SO she will let me kill the choreo first, and then my feet.

Marilena: Seriously Andye you taught us half of the choreo still no heels and when we put them on during the break you force us to take them off ? CRUEL!!
Denice: I could really need some time to practice before putting myself out there, and Lin is always quick with getting her instavideos up, I need to be prepared for the world to witness this… but I guess we just have to listen to her, Marilena..

Marilena: Second class…..the time has come! HEELS ON! We started with some excersices to get comfortable like walking across the room and then straight to the choreo. I´m loving this even though I am struggling to keep my balance !
Denice: Am I supposed to feel sexy now? Haha.. well let’s just go for it shall we?! Okay, hips up and over, relax, pose, attitude, balance, turn, dip, up, musicality, dynamics.. yes, I got this- no problem..
Elina just popped in and she wanted to say to the world that we (Marilena and Denice) killed it!!!
OH MY GOSH ELINA THANK YOU SO MUCH but everybody did a good job especially the boys. And you too. And Cecilia and Elin.
Good times, Andye! We are now ready for the stage with Beyonce!

ONE DAY!!!

Day 38 - October 23rd 2013 (By Marilena Maouni)

Day 38 - October 23rd 2013 (By Marilena Maouni)

Not one, not two, but THREE people were late today. Guess what…dance mom Lin…NOT HAPPY!
To make sure this never happens again she made us go to the wall and stand like this (picture no1) while listening to Kesha and old Bieber songs for several minutes.
It hurt like hell…ears and thighs! ---> NOBODY WAS LATE EVER AGAIN.
Andye J…..aaaaa <3

Before I say anything else I have to let you know that she's the best teacher in the world and I am really grateful to have her in the education. She came prepared, she knew our names BEFORE she even walks into the studio, she did her research about what we've learned so far with the other teachers and she knew exactly what she was going to teach.
Today's lesson was expressions.
WE LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
First class we learned a choreo to the song 'Climax' and for the second class we….put our hearts in it.
Andye 'forced' us to pay attention to the lyrics and to connect.
Even though I've heard that song a thousand times suddenly it made sense.
Thoughts and feelings well-hidden for a long time came into the surface, and I just couldn't hold my tears anymore. I surrendered to my heart-ache, and I wasn't doing a bunch of steps anymore, I was telling my story through movement.
Watching everybody dancing I realized what a huge difference it makes when you truly surrender and put your heart in it.
EVERYBODY WAS CRYING.
Sharing our pain, showing our emotions brought us even closer as a group.
What an amazing lesson! What an amazing teacher you are Andye!
P.S. I just want to say how proud I am about my classmates and especially about Denice and Elina for killing Andye's choreo and about Cecilia for her Bollywood class later this evening!!
oh boy I need a drink.....

Day 38 - October 23rd 2013 (By Cecilia Tram)

Hey beautiful world. It was time for me to write again :-)

Today was very emotionell with Andye.
I admire her how she know how to break us down and to be able to put us back together but better than we were before.
She made us dance this choreography with a broken, sad emotion and made us really feel it.
The sad, broken emotion was not a knew thing for me.
The hardess for me was to express it in this style, because when I feel sad, I prefer to do it in a contemporary way. but I feelt at the end of the day, she brought us all closer together, and I hope the guys agree with me.
Feel stupid if I were the only one who feelt that :-/

I had my class today and it was really, really fun and I'm so thankful for everyone who came.
I didn't do hip hop.
I did me and with that I did Bollywood.
That is one part of me, and it feelt so good to show everybody who I really am.

I'm a sensitive person but a happy one and it dosen't mean that I'm really crushed because I'm crying.
I cry to let my feelings out.
I can cry when I'm happy, angry, struggling or just need to release and it is nothing wrong with that ;-) kind of enoying sometimes but yeah....that's me :-)

I want to write something before I end for today.
I'm so thankful for being apart of this adventure, and especially with my classmates.
They are so talented and strong and amazing as dancers and persons.
After this year they are going to be monsters, and even I will be afraid of them.
They have developed a lot in 2 months and I want to dance like all of them, and they are such an inspiration.

Love to you all.

XOXO Cecilia

Day 37 – October 22 2013 (By Elin Karabuda)

Day 37 – October 22 2013 (By Elin Karabuda)

Fo shizzle blog dizzle!  :-) Ok, perfect.

Today was just full of awesomeness.
The energy, the choreo, Sofia, the food (that was a lie, wasn’t tasty at all, didn’t even finish it, not worth it) and the teacher of course ;-)   HI ANDYE!

On both classes today we continued working on ”Twerk it”.
Go ahead :-)
Watch it :-)  I linked it for u :-)
(Kallum didn’t)
U r welcome. No prob. My pleasure.

It was so different from anything we’ve done at this education.
I really enjoyed seeing my peps going OFF!
Oh yesss that’s what they did! :-)

So far this whole Andye experience has been fantabulous!
As a teacher, she’s the best I’ve ever learned from, seen, heard about or smelled.
Cause omg, her teaching technique is superduper effective :-)  Fo real.

First of all she told us a lot about the absolute smartest way to pick up a choreo!
This was valuable info people!
And whenever she breaks down the choreo for us she never continues with another section until everyone has the above (if U are lost now, ”the above” is the sentence above this sentence. U are welcome).
I especially noticed how good of a teacher she is when I was watching the classes last Friday (due to crappy injury/inflammation/something-that-hurts-thingie-on-my leg). I compared everyone’s dancing from the moment they learned the steps and the end of the class
(when Andye had given precise info and pushing everyone).

The difference was, oh my crap, remarkable!

I’ve never seen so much progress in such a short period of time :-)
I can’t imagine what beasts we would become if we had Andye for a year...
WOW, she’s a magician.

This is my dog. Zizou. Feel free to can call him Z. He likes the water. No he doesn’t.

XOXO
