Day 42 - November 5th 2013 (By Anton Swerkström)
Tjenixen (swedish word of the day) Blog!
Started the day with music theory with K.
Not really much to say except its nice we are keeping this up, for every time we do it we get better and better.
Then we went running again, thanks to Marilena... Nah Im just kidding :-)
...was actually nice going running again, especially in this weather.
Although I have to be completely honest and say I prefer the workout/warmup program since it works on your entire body, dance technique as well as flexibility.
But running once in a while is perfectly fine by me.
And after lunch it was back to Tony.
Today we were gonna focus on street dances and we learned some different styles.
Among them were the superhyped, superintensive Baltimore style.
I thought Melbourne Shuffle to a Hardstyle beat was fast but this took it to a whole other level.
When Tony first showed it to the music I could barely believe it since it seemed impossible to move that fast.
Then he said “The purpose of this is to make it impossible, and make it possible at the same time”.
We were all like “Say whaaat?”.
But what he meant was to make it seem impossible but then use the movements to our advantage and make them possible to do.
Dont know if that makes any sense... but at least when he explained it it did.
And by the end of the class we all kinda got it.
Last class we did more of a regular choreo class but with influences from another street dance.
Every class we have had so far I have been so lost in the beginning and just feeling really awkward doing his moves because he looks so good doing them and I look... well I dont look cool... at all...
But by the end of each class I have still felt like I kinda got it.
The power of a good teacher I suppose.
And not only that but all the knowledge he possesses is amazing.
I am just trying my hardest to remember all the things he says because its all freakin golden.
Wont get much sleep tonight, but hopefully I´ll pull through tomorrow.
I mean Tony had like 2 hours of sleep the first day he had us, and you could not tell, so I cant let my teacher down and whine about getting 5 hours :-/
Until next time!
