Day 44 - November 7th 2013 (By Kallum Khaos)

Day 44 - November 7th 2013 (By Kallum Khaos)

Today we start the day with the usual warm up, work out and stretch routine for around an hour.
We've gotten so used to it that we do it by ourselves, and we look so in sync throughout its really cool.

The first class we all spent time choreographing, and working on new solo's that we will perform next month at The Hip Drop´s X-MAS SHOW on December 8th.

Then the guys (Mantas, Anton and I) spent time working on doing back flips on crash mats in the studio.
It's been around 10 months since the last time I tried (and a few years before that) so I was really pleased to have them back by the end of the session.
It won't be long until the 3 of us are flipping and tricking all over the place ;-)

In Tony Tzar's first class we did Whacking which looks ridiculous on me, but by the end of the class I was loving it.
I was told the guys looked really good doing it together but the girls KILLED it, the facial expressions and confidence that they were expressing was sooooo dope.
Tony is such a good dancer, he makes everything look so cool, masculine and effortless – then I try it and I look like a drunk and effeminate daddy long legs.
After discussing the history and progression of whacking, we spent some time talking about various dance styles, and what people to watch and be inspired by from each style - so we ended up with a list of names to Youtube and study.

To finish we started working on planning a video with Tony, that he is personally choreographing and tailoring to fit us as a group.
DESIGNING CHOREOGRAPHY TO FIT US!!
I pee'd a little I was that exited.
This went over time so much that evening classes were starting, so being the good students we are, we went back to the studio in Tony's hotel to keep working and choreoraphing.
What other education would you get this sort of one on one and dedicated time with such a high profile choreographer?
I have no idea. I
t's such a good experience to see how Tony can just visualise a piece and put it together on the spot. Everyone was chilling, the lights were off, and the mood to work on a piece was awesome.
We didn't get done until quite late but it was such a good day of dancing.

Until next time folks,

Love dance, love life, love wearing underwear that aren't too restricting.
