DAY 14 - September 18th 2014 (By Charlie Manley)

DAY 14 - September 18th 2014 (By Charlie Manley)

So we have our first show on Saturday!
Its gonna be crazy times!
We have been working on our piece for less than 10 days, only like one hour or so per day, and have been putting it altogether this week!
Today we cleaned and finished it off.
Its been a intense day! We've put our blood sweat and tears into this piece but its all going to pay off on Saturday!

After our MAD day, we had Lins two classes!
Which are always insanely fun and FULL OUT!
Both classes were different which is good as it tests you, seeing how fast you can switch and adapt to the next routine.
The energy in those classes are something else!
The students and the teacher ;-)  are all DOPE! And always bring their A game to class.
Everyone in those classes inspire me every week! And I'm so blessed to be able to take class with them.

I didn't get home till late but it was soooo worth it!! :D

DAY 13 - September 17th 2014 (By Antoine Cedric)

DAY 13 - September 17th 2014 (By Antoine Cedric)

The Day started for us like every morning at 8:30, the Breakfast was the same, the way we started the day turns slowly into a routine.
Zhian and Gabriel prepares eggs with bacon, Henry the müsli man (HAHA) and the rest Kellogs or Müsli with Fruits. We really try to eat healthy since the first day we had Nutrition with Sofia.

The training started today without Lin because she was in bed with a cold.
We wished her good recovery and prayed for her.
But regardless of that we had the normal training.
Starting with " the easy jogging" everybody can run his own tempo.
After that we had our favorite part of the Workout: The crunches. It feels tough but I'm happy because i can see the sixpack coming (HAHAHA)
The next class was with The K. He taught Locking.
And I have to say I never took a lot of locking classes but I loved it today.
The groove the music and the feeling.
Locking is one of those dance styles that just makes you laugh and where you can makes stupid faces while dancing.
K has so much knowledge of Old School Dance Styles.
The song today was from " The average White Band - Cut the Cake" really funky and groovy.

At 12 we had the lunch break and after that we started with the Show rehearsal.
As you maybe know, we have a show on the 20.09.2014 here in Malmö.
We are going to perform a 3 Minute Piece made by all the 2Yep´ers.
We made all the formations and transitions.
What I can say is, the show will be sick.
We have just to clean some parts and the transitions.
It's going to be dooooooope on Saturday.

After the Show Rehearsal, we had Yoga with Sofia.
It's every time funny with her, but the exercise are hard, you have to be very flexible.
I swear I try to do my best but sometimes I have to quit because I'm not that flexible.
The last class was Anatomy and Physiology.
We learned about the different types of body and we analyzed each other in the group.
I was the first.
They had a look at my back and Sofia said that normally I was born left handed but I do everything with the right hand except if I have to lift something heavy, then I use my left arm.
I'm stronger with the left arm.
She can see that when she analyze the back of a person.
Simone have a strong back but the right hip is a little bit higher than the left Hip.
And for the both Michaels she analyzed that they are both right handed.
And we could actually see the difference.

Later at home we had dinner and our chill moment.
It was like almost chicken time.
(HAHA) Today it was Chicken with peanut sauce and rice.
For the Recipe ask my me.
Maybe i will give it to you. (HAHA)
Later me and some guys had our evening workout.
We want to be prepared for L.A.
We want the Sixpack (HAHA)

So that was our journey today.
I hope You are still enjoying our blog.
I Wish you all a nice and blessed evening.

Much Love

Cedric

DAY 12 - September 16th 2014 (By Zhian Lu)

DAY 12 - September 16th 2014 (By Zhian Lu)

Second day of the third week at the Hip Drop Dance Complex, starting to get the rhythm now!
Got up at 9am, eating breakfast, biking to the studio… daily routine…haha

We had to do the warm up by ourself today because Lin was sick…

It was pretty confusing because we haven't memorized every part of the warm up routine yet…
But we did it well though… I guess… hahaha

After 15 minutes of warm up, we started the show rehearsal for the performance that we have on Saturday.

We did Nico's, Henry's and the girl's part (I can't hear the show's song anymore…)

Now, every Tuesday, we have 2 hours of jazz class.

I really start to enjoy it even though at first I had mixed feeling about it.
It's still very confusing because you need lots of technique to execute a movement correctly.
But it's great to dance different styles, it feels good!

We had our lunch at 2pm, everyone was chilling outside because the weather was awesome.

After the lunch, we were supposed to have an isolation class with Lin and K but instead, but since Lin was not there K decided to give us this hour for practicing the show (cleaning and stuff)
The day ended after the last 15 minutes of stretch.
Before going home, I went with Luise and Simone to the grocery store to buy some food.
Luise has to cook for me tonight because she lost a bet (the bet was about the name of the ballet teacher which was Laura. Luise was sure that it was Laurien)

Anyway the dinner was delicious, she and Simone cooked salmon with fries and broccoli.

We chilled a little bit outside to digest and then I went back to my house because I had to write my article.

I guess i will go to bed early today because tomorrow we have the """"""easy""""""" jogging (looking forward to it… or maybe not… )

Well, that's it for today… Good Night/Day everybody!

DAY 11 - September 15th 2014 (By Simonne Kraigher)

DAY 11 - September 15th 2014 (By Simonne Kraigher)

It’s Monday ... good ol’ Monday’s.
I usually don’t really like Monday’s, but today I drank coffee so I didn’t mind this Monday! I am not too sure how everyone else felt, but I know after doing Lin’s WarmUp for about 30 minutes, our abs were on fire and we were starting to feel warm. After our complete warm up of one hour, we jumped right into our first full rehearsal for our show coming up this Saturday!
Last week (if you have been reading the blog) we all learnt each other’s Choreography, and today we started to stage it, and put it into formations with the direction of Lin and Karsten. We got a little farther than Lin expected, so that made me quite happy! :-)  I am personally really excited to see how this turns out – as its already coming along really well! EEEEEEK – soo yeah, you should all come to the show … get on the next flight  :-)
After a well-deserved lunch, it was time to get into music theory. Now, for me, this is one of the most challenging classes. I can hear the kicks, snares, high hats and everything, but I can’t count them to music … I thought I could, until Karsten told us what the actual counts of everything was, and I was totally wrong (I am pretty sure there were some others with incorrect answers … but some of us totally don´t understand these 1 e and a’s!
Threading, Sweep Spin, Sweeps, Hooks, Hook Turns ... and some other lingo I am unsure of is some of the breakdancing Karsten taught us today. Now, for me, I really enjoy breakdancing - when I thought I would least enjoy it. As I took class, I looked around and everyone was playing with the movements that were given to us, and it looked like we were all having a grand old time. Breakdancing has been a super fun, energetic and playful class. (I am just happy I had kneepads – I wonder how many of us are suffering from bruises).

Ended the day off with a cool down, lights off, singing away to Christina Aguilera.
Can’t say it has been a bad Monday at all!
PS – COME TO OUR SHOW .. Saturday, September 20th! :-)

DAY 10 - September 12th 2014 (By Oliver Rönholt)

Hi guys!
I’m Oliver and this is my first time writing the blog!

So, Friday we all met up in the park in Malmö, to start our ”Easy Jogging”
We ran around in the park for about 35 minutes, and it was SOOOO beautiful!
I love the Swedish nature!
We went home to the studio and started rehearsals for our Show September 20th.
It was hard haha, the show is so full out!
Everyone finished teaching their pieces, so now the really hard work starts.
It’s gotta be clean!
We were done around 13:00, and the school day was over.

In the evening we all went to Copenhagen to watch the Detour Dance Festival.
Such a dope show with so much talent on stage!
We all got a lot inspiration!
And of course, it’s always fun being together outside of the studio.
So we had a reeeeeally fun night!

Thanks for reading guys! Stay tuned for more!

Oliver

DAY 9 - September 11th 2014 (By Nico O´Holi)

Yesss, Hello Blog World!!!!

This is crazy, I still can’t believe I’m here writing this blog after reading it so much last year.

This is now our 10th day here and already it feels like its been a few months.
Today’s class started with a started with a light warm up which is one of my favourite parts of the day as it gives my body the chance to wake up.
This followed with show rehearsals and today was Charlie’s, Cedric’s and Mike’s turn to teach their part of the choreography for the show.
Both choreography’s are so beastly, I love it and can’t wait to work our asses off to make everything clean and start setting formation - this is going to be one FULL OUT show!

The stretch today wasn’t too bad as my body is now starting to get use to it. By the end of this program I want to be able to do the splits, this is one of mine & Mike’s goals for the end of the year so I’ll be continuing to get my stretch on which should help me with my grand battement in Ballet ;)
Ballet class was super dopeee today, Laura is a G! :D
I feel like I have grown in the space of two lessons and can’t wait to see the effect of these Ballet classes help me with my versatility.

P.S. Charlie you looked so Manley in your Unitard ;)

Next stop was our theory class by the one and only Sofia, the funniest woman in Sweden.
No matter how much knowledge I have on nutrition there is always something to learn in these lectures!
Now I drink water every morning and make sure that 70% of my plate at dinner is vegetables - thank you Sofia! :D

As for now it is time to love & leave you all until next time.. Lots of hard work to put in in the next 8 days and I can’t wait to kill this performance!

COME TO OUR SHOW THE 20TH OF SEPTEMBER IN MALMÖ

DAY 8 - September 10th 2014 (By Michael Sjösten)

DAY 8 - September 10th 2014 (By Michael Sjösten)

Wooow, this week has been so amazing so far.
And this is my first blog post so hello world!

We started the day with some "Easy jogging" which was fun.
It's actually a really good way to start the day, with a 30 - 40 minute run around Malmö.
After that we had a warm up with Lin.
I'm so suprised by how much I love the warm ups each day.
They are challenging and really make your whole body come to life and wake up.

After the warm up we had a class with K and we focused on top rocks.
Old school Hip Hop like Breaking, Popping, Locking.
Those styles are really not within my comfort zone but I like a challenge.
And K is also a really good teacher and he's fun and inspiring!
The class was great and it felt like I got the hang of it.
Definetly gonna keep working on those top rocks tho...

After that we had SHOW rehearsal.
That's right! We started with Henry's part which was fast.. but really fun.
And  after that it was me and Luise who were gonna teach or section in the show.
We are doing the part where only the girls are dancing, and we had to teach it to all the boys.
It was really fun and they all went off!
But yeah, a lot of booty shaking and head whiping in that choreo!
Looking forward to work with our three amazing girls to clean and rehearse that part!

Then we had nutrition class with Sofia.
Damm, I learn so much here.
It's hard to take it all in but it's so much fun.
We talked mostly about the dinner and what you should eat.
It's amazing how much that woman knows.
And It really inspires you to live healthier.
I'm definetly going shopping for some vegetables later, haha.

And then we finished the day with some Yoga, and once again.
It's amazing how strong this woman is.... and FLEXIBLE!
I thought Yoga was chill and easy, but I was so wrong.
It's really hard and soooo challenging but once again, a lot of fun!
By the end of this year I'm gonna be flexible like a rubber band with all this streching!

It was an exhausting and long day but I come home a lot stronger!
Now it's time for me to go buy some healthy food, so until next time!
Bye bye!

DAY 7 - September 9th 2014 (By Michael "Mike" Fiech)

DAY 7 - September 9th 2014 (By Michael Sjösten)

Hey Blogreaders!! :)
It's my first time writing for Hipdrop's Blog! Whoop Whoop!

OK, let me tell you how our day was ;)

Soooo our day started of course with Lin's KillerWarmUp Program including Crunches and so on.......you know just to wake us up :D

After that warmup it was time to get to the real work:
Our up-and-coming Show!

Malene and Nico were teaching some crazy stuff to us, and all I can say is that our Show is gonna be soooo FULL OUT!
No rest, No breaks, No breathing!
Almost like Bam Martin but yeah he is actually breathing.....we are not haha!

Alrighty then, after those sickass Routines from my classmates we switched from Speedy Gonzales' speed to some JAZZ!!

We were not even starting the class and I already knew that I will love it.
Our lovely lady Sofia was warming us up for Jazz with some Basics which were actually pretty intense ha ha.
Then we had like a little, tiny 'Routine' for some traveling and 'kicks' in Jazz and Yeah it was even more fun!
So after 30 minutes of traveling we moved over to Choreography and OMG I was feeling it!
Ha ha
I loved it so much, I need to practice more Jazz !!

Ending with Jazz, starting with Music Theory!
And again, it was MINDBLOWING!! K could hear things, nobody in the room could hear and even when we thought "OK, I counted this beat correctly and it makes sense to me" there is always that one little kick, snare, hihat, whatever which is like hiding behind another instrument.
I can feel improvement though.
Last week was horrible when it comes to music theory haha!

Ok Guys that was my time!
I hope you have a great day and see you later in a week or something :D

Cheers!

Mike

DAY 6 - September 8th 2014 (By Malene Rostgaard Rasmussen)

Hi blog, Malene here.
So exited about writing for the first time.
It’s now our second week but it feels like I have known these guys forever.
I’m so happy about being here.

Today it’s Lin’s birthday (happy birthday to her!!!) so I baked some chocolate muffins for everyone.

We started the day learning two new warm up dances quite tough core/stomach program but it will be nice later :-)
Then we had Lin teaching a Hip Hop class.....we continued on a routine from last week.
It’s so great that everyone is full out.
Today the energy was crazy!
The last 25 min of class Charley, Heinrich and I were the leaders of the group and we had to make some formations and effect to the dance we learned by Lin.
Our first time working together (we need to work on that part)

After lunch we had music theory with K.
He is killing us with his choice of music....and giving us tasks where we need to find all the drums and bass lines, and talk about them and dissect the tracks.

We also started on our Show rehearsal today, because this week we have to teach each other all the choreography.
We learned the first 8x8 counts by Oliver and Zhian today.

That’s all for today

Malene out!

DAY 5 - September 5th 2014 (By Luise Knofe)

Waking up in the morning, no alarm is ringing... yes, right, today is Photoshoot-Day.
No early training... OUUCCHH my calves, I can't walk anymore...

That's kind of how I started this Friday.
Very sore after two days with Lin's Jogging program and her work outs.
But thank good, we „only“ had to look good today.

Today everyone spent the day a bit different.
The boys slept quite long, some of them went to the city to do some sightseeing, others were chilling in the sun, since the weather was really great.
Simonne and I went biking to the immigration office to avoid Simonne being deported ;)
That was a to long of a biking trip for our legs (OUCH again)
After that we finally got our own bikes, since we only borrowed bikes to do some grocery shopping.

Meanwhile the boys were heading over for a haircut to look good for the Photoshoot and this plan worked out quite nicely ;)

After, us girls had some girly problems like:
What to wear?
Which kind of make up?
What am I gonna do with my hair?....
We finally all made it to the Photoshoot looking very nice.

Each one of us had a little private Headshot Session with Bekim Aliji, the Photographer, while the others were dancing around in the studio.
Everyone did a real good Job and we were quite fast at getting the headshots taken.
I think everyone is really excited to see the results soon :)

Next we started taking the group pictures with us wearing the HipDrop Hoodies.
It was a bit difficult and took us a while to find our positions and looks all together, since we often started laughing out lout while trying to be serious.

But in the end we made it and we're heading over to our houses, to celebrate our first weekend with everyone in the education.

Lots of Love

Luise

DAY 4 - September 4th 2014 (By Henry Herrmann)

DAY 4 - September 4th 2014 (By Henry Herrmann)

Today we started the Education with music theory.
Karsten told us in the beginning of the class what sounds we hear in "normal" beats.
Then he explained the different styles of music and their tempo.
After that he taught us how to cut a beat right.
He also explained us which instruments you hear in regular Hip Hop music.

The first song he picked was "In Da Club" by 50 Cent.
Everyone who listens to Hip Hop should know this legendary song.
It was harder than we thought to get all of these beats on the paper.
And we just had Kick Drum, Snare and High Hat.
I am hardly looking forward for his next class because it is so important to understand the music right.

The next so called Class was easy jogging with Lin.
We ran the same distance as yesterday.
It was also amazing weather this day.

After that we had our first ballet class with Laura in another dance studio.
Laura started with the very basics of ballet today but a lot of us felt their leg from yesterdays run.
So every grand plié was horrible for the most of us.

Our late break was more than deserved.
Fortunately we had nutrition right after the lunch and not stuff like b'boying or krumping  ;)

Nutrition taught by Sofia, was very helpful again.
We talked a lot about the lunch and what kind of vegetables are helpful for athletics.
At the end of the day we had Yoga like yesterday and it was quiet better than the day before.
But in some of her "easy positions" we fell out of concentration.
And we had again someone who was fallen into the dreamland at the and of the session :)

Henry
