MANTAS RIMEIKIS
Name & Country:
Mantas Rimeikis/Lithuania
Age:
21
Dance background:
I started dancing 3 years ago. I was inspired by dance videos I've seen on youtube and television. Me and couple of friends just rented a studio and danced. We did it only because it was fun, but after a year I felt like I have to get more out of it. Dance became the best way to express myself so I moved to Frankfurt Germany to take dance classes at GDC after High school. I grew a lot as a dancer over last 2 years so I am thankful for all the teachers & friends back there!
Dreams and goals with dance:
My vision is to go on tour with an artist, travel & see the world. I would love to have a chance to choreograph for an artist too.
After gaining some experience I would like to teach and maybe direct, do something meaningful, share my experience with the world.
How did you hear about the program and what made you decide to apply:
I have heard about the education program a while ago, but back then I didn’t even consider joining it. It seemed impossible.
Everything changed when I came out to SummerDrop 2013. Me and a friend N. saw a poster of education and after that the conversation started on what an awesome opportunity this is. We talked for hours and she encouraged me just to go and talk to Lin about it, because this education would be perfect for me, especially this year considering the situation that I was in. I was not sure what to study and what exactly I want to do with my life besides dancing.
So I talked to The Hip Drop mom Lin and she said that she wants to see me in class first to be able to tell me if I am good enough. Luckily I did well that day even though I was as nervous as a kindergardener on their first day of school.
She talked to me the next day and told me that I am accepted & I should do this.
That was the moment when I clicked. I wanted to be a better dancer / better me. I wasn’t so sure about anything in my life as I was sure about this. I knew that I have to make this happen no matter what. I am lucky enough to have my Mom & Grandma the 2 most important women in my life who support me no matter what. I had 3 weeks to make it work. Rent my flat, fix my financial situation & all personal stuff, find a place in Sweden. All this stuff looked super hard to achieve regardless small period of time I had.

Bill Cosby
Maybe that’s the reason why I managed to figure everything out and was able to attend the Program.
