Day 4 - September 5th 2013 (By Denice Solberg)
First choreo class of the year - here we go!
Huyen taught us a choreo today where she based her moves out of the two last days of foundations and basics.
It was pretty hard, espescially for me since I haven’t learned any choreos since I was in LA three months ago.
But knowing how the basics are supposed to feel and look like it was kind of just puzzleing all the moves together into a new picture.
Gotta say the musicality was very hard, but this year is for improvement and growth, right?
So challenge accepted.
Anyways, I have to brag about my fellow classmates....they are simply amazing to have around.
The energy they give me in class is beyond expected.
I’m so hyped in every class so far.
It has only been 4 days.. but it feels like I’ve known the others for years.
We seem to be very comfortable around each other already, wich makes it easy to stay positive even when things seems challenging.
I like to tell myself that we are all gonna be beasts by the end of this year, and somehow I truly believe it.
Seeing everybody and myself grow in only four days makes me understand that only the sky is the limit.
This year is all about living in the presence, while growing, reaching dreams, having fun and enjoying life.
To kind of summarize what I’ve learned from Huyen this week is to ”Celebrate babysteps” , ”dont hold back- be fearless and experimental” , ”show confidence, but dont overkill moves” , ”mental dancing is just as important as actual dancing” and ”internalisation- make the moves a part of you”.
This was the last day with Huyen, and it has been the perfect way to start a year of dance.
Foundations and grooves should never be underestimated.
Next choreographer to come is David Moore and I am so excited to learn from him!
