Day 20 - September 27th 2013 (By Denice Solberg)

Day 20 - September 27th 2013 (By Denice Solberg)

Week 4 is over!
I can’t believe 10 % of our year is already over.
That just tells me it’s important to cherish every moment, because time flyes by so fast.
Jazz and modern dance week had been just perfect for me.
I love it so much, and its very nice to see that I remember quite alot from High school.
Jenny Major and Martin SvaneBorg are two very good teachers and its gonna be exciting to have them for a whole other week too.

Today we started out with intense warm-up or shall I say work-out, with Lin! For an hour we were doing nothing but crunches and all of those small things that make you sweat like crazy! It was so heavy, but I loved it!
Lin is a real machine, so it’s inspiring to have her in the front!
Cant wait for my tummy to look like hers! Haha.

We had choreo with Lin where she challenged us to remember a choreo to Keysha Cole, that we learned two weeks ago. It went pretty well, a few blurry spots here and there.
She gave us individual feedback on what to work on, which I love so much!
Her purpose of the comments was to make us clean up our moves and style, so that we could be able to do her style the way she dances it, or the way she imagines her choreo.
Sometimes it’s important to be able to copy.
Some choreographers want dancers that are able to look all the same.
So individual style is good, but being able to copy is also very important.
Her comment to me was to extend my moves, which makes sense to me, because David Moore told me to take my time with every move, so I can kinda link them together.

Last but not least I have to mention that we filmed our first assignement today. After a teacher leaves we get an assignement linked to that teacher or the style of the teacher. And this time it was the ”David Moore assignement”. It has been a process I couldn’t be more happy about. It was stressful and fun at the same time. So many small discussions,  disagreements, tensions and frustrations....everything you can imagine on the bad and good side.
But I am so happy that we had to experience all of this so early, cause thats how we learn to collaborate.
Teamwork is a very important part of dancing.
So each and everyone of us can learn how our position in the group can work in the most afficient way. Elina said this very well, so I want to mention it.
There are four things you can think of when your going to work in a team:
1.     Who is the leader.
2.     What possition do I have.
3.     How many are we.
4.     How much time do we have.

I have to say that I’m very excited to see how the video result will be like, because I think the choreo eneded up looking pretty good!
The process of shooting it went really well and had we a lot of fun together.
Lucile from France that lives with us, was supersweet and shot it for us.
Stay tuned for the video here and on youtube!
