MARILENA MAOUNI

I’m Marilena Maouni I’m 25 years old and I’m from Greece!

Dance background:

My first experience with dance was at the age of 10 with modern dance but growing up in a small village didn’t help me evolve. I really started dancing and fell in love with it when I moved to Thessaloniki to study at the age of 18. Couple of years later I started teaching and formed teams that went to competitions but most of my dancing experience includes performances and participating in competitions with my crew V vibes. My best moments so far in dancing is representing my country in World’s Hip Hop International 2012 and winning the 2009 summerdrop scholarship.

Dreams and Goals:

My dreams/goals is to be a professional dancer and be able to tour with an artist!

How did you hear about the program and what made you decide to apply:

I always wanted to pursue dancing as a career but where I come from there’s no real dance scene and people don’t take you seriously when you want to get involved with art in general, so I had to “hide” my passion and try to find something else to do with my life. 

But everything else failed cause in my heart there’s only dancing! Then I saw the add for The Hip Drop 1 Year International Education on facebook and I thought that was my chance to do what I really want to do and live my life how I want it!
